Toviaz ER is a medicine, which is used against overactive bladder with symptoms of urinary frequency, urgency and incontinence.

The active ingredient of Toviaz ER is fesoterodine fumarate. The supporting substances are Glyceryl dibehenate/glyceryl behenate, talc, polyvinyl alcohol, titanium dioxide, macrogol 3350, soya lecithin, indigo carmine aluminum lacquer (E132) and sodium carboxymethylcellulose.

Toviaz ER reduces the movement of overactive mesenchymal and treats its symptoms. You can not control when your bladder is emptied following a sudden jam (jamming incontinence called). You suddenly feel the need to empty your breath (called jam). You have to drain your breath more often (called urine frequency increase).

What are the Contraindications of Toviaz ER?

Do not use Toviaz ER in case you;

- You have hypersensivity or allergy to any of the ingredients of Toviaz ER.

- You can not empty your panties completely (retention of the urine) –

- You are slowly emptying (gastric retention)

- You have an uncontrolled eye disorder called narrow-angle glaucoma (high blood pressure in the eye)

- You have excessive weakness in your muscles (myastenia gravis) - If you have ulceration and inflammation in your large intestine (severe ulcerative colitis)

- You have a large or bulky large intestine at abnormal level (toxic megacolon)

- You have serious liver problems

Be careful to use Toviaz ER under below conditions in case;

- You face difficulties for emptying your bladder completely

- You have decreased bowel movements or have suffered from severe constipation

- You are treated for an eye disease called narrow-angle glaucoma

- You have serious kidney or liver problems,

- You have a disease called autonomic neuropathy that manifests itself as a change in blood pressure, a type of disorder in the bowel or sexual function

- You have a gastrointestinal (gastrointestinal) disease influencing the passage of food or digestion.

- You have burning sensation in the chest or belching heart problems

- You suffer from disorders such as an ECG abnormality known as QT prolongation, usage of any medication that causes it, low heart rate (bradycardia), heart diseases such as myocardial ischaemia (decreased calm to your heart muscles), irregular heartbeat or heart failure or low blood level.

How is Toviaz ER used with Food and Drinks?

Toviaz ER can be taken with or without food. Grapefruit juice can influence the effectiveness of the medicine, so it should not be used with Toviaz ER.

Do not use Toviaz ER if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. The effects of Toviaz ER on unborn child and human milk are not known.

What are the effects of Toviaz ER on driving car or using another vehicle?

Toviaz ER can cause blurred vision, dizziness and sleepiness. If you feel any of those, do not drive car or use any other vehicle.

ER with other medicines?

Be careful while using Toviaz ER under below conditions and if you have one or more of below medical treatments:

- Treatments combined with fesoterodine can increase the side effects such as mouth instability, constipation, difficulty in completely discharging your mucous membranes, or sleepiness

- Amandine (used in the treatment of Parkinson's disease) medicines containing the active ingredient

- Drugs used to increase gastrointestinal (gastrointestinal) motility, to relieve stomach cramps or spasms or to prevent car retention

- Drugs used in the treatment of psychiatric diseases

- Drugs that contain any of the indicated agents may accelerate and reduce the disintegration of the fesoterodine. John's Wort, rifampicin (used in the treatment of bacterial infections), carbamazepine, phenytoin and phenobarbital (used in the treatment of epilepsy, among others)

- Drugs containing any of the indicated agents may increase the levels of the fesoterodine: itraconazole or ketoconazole (used to treat fungal infections), ritonavir, atazanavir, indinavir, sakinavir or nelfinavir (antiviral drug used in HIV treatment), clarithromycin or telithromycin (used in the treatment of bacterial infections) ) and nefazodone (used in the treatment of depression)

How is Toviaz ER used?

Unless the doctors advise something different, it can be taken 4 mg per day as the initial dose. The doctors can increase the dose at the coming terms of the theraphy. It might 8 mg per day.

Take Toviaz ER with a glass of water and do not swallow it.

Can Children and Elderly People use Toviaz ER?

Toviaz ER should not be used by children and young people, who are under 18 years old.

No need for dose adjustment on elderly people.

How is the specific use of Toviaz ER in cases like Kidney failure and Liver failure?

If you have serious liver problems, you should not use TOVIAZ. If you have any problem with your kidney or liver, doctors should decide on use of Toviaz ER. A dose adjustment is very much likely.

If you use extra dose of Toviaz ER, consult your doctor as soon as possible.

If you forget to take Toviaz ER, take it when you remember, but do not take double dose in a day.
